Retirement Looms Over Russell Westbrook? Stephen A Smith Breaks Down Kyrie Irving Take with a Pinch of Salt: “Time For Stuff Like That is When its Over”

At the start of his career, Russell Westbrook of the Los Angeles Clippers emerged as one of the most promising players. With a 31.6 point average, he went on to earn the MVP title for the 2016–17 season. However, Brook's skill has significantly declined since his dominant performance, as evidenced by the fact that he only averaged 15.8 points in the previous campaign. He later entered into a two-year, $7 million contract with the Clippers. Stephen A. Smith, a seasoned expert, cuts off Kyrie Irving on live television as fans ask about his impending retirement.

Stephen A. Smith’s strong message to Kyrie Irving

On his Instagram story, Kyrie Irving posted a video of Russell Westbrook at his most electrifying during the Oklahoma City Thunder era. He also added the following to it: “Let’s not pretend this Dude right here didn’t revolutionize the Game and inspire us all to do things YOUR way and say fu** em all.” While it seemed positive to Russ’ fans, Stephen A. Smith didn’t feel the same.

In the recent episode of ESPN’s First Take, Smith called Irving’s IG story as, “Unwanted attention.” Moreover, he criticized the Mavs star for putting up the message even before his career is over. He said, “Irving… needs to realize the time for stuff like that is when it’s over.” Furthermore, he highlighted Westbrook’s ringless journey in the NBA and said it would be great to get one before his retirement.

Arenas reveals Brook’s role in the upcoming season

Arenas discussed his meeting with Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue on a recent episode of Gil's Arena, a podcast. He questioned him about his stunning two-year contract as MVP for the 2016–17 season and his potential position. In response, he said that Westbrook would serve as the team's captain while Paul George and Kawhi Leonard handled the offence.
