What Happened?


The violation is in regards to the modification of a single source part which is not allowed as per NASCAR rulebook. The act was a violation of sections 14.1 and 14.5 of the NASCAR Rule Book.

Penalty to RFK Racing


100 point driver’s point penalty, 100 point owner’s point penalty, Loss of 10 playoff points, Four race suspension for crew chief Matt McCall and a $100,000 fine to Matt McCall has been imposed.

NASCAR's comments on the penalty


Scott Miller spoke on Wednesday about the issue by saying “That’s a key design feature of the part. So, the repair policy was not followed. That’s really what it comes down to. A critical dimension of the part was altered.”
