Baker Mayfield's Preferred Destination Revealed After Being Trashed By Cleveland Browns

Since the Browns are acquiring quarterback Deshaun Watson from the Texans, they will likely next look to move Baker Mayfield, and Mayfield has a preference for where he wants to end up. According to The Athletic’s Jeff Howe, Mayfield has told the Browns he prefers to be traded to the Colts.

Howe had previously mentioned the Colts as one of the teams that may trade for Mayfield

"Baker Mayfield has informed the Browns that he'd prefer to be traded to the Colts, per sources. Earlier this week, prior to Mayfield's trade request, the Browns said they'd work with him on a trade. We'll see if they'll accommodate such a move to the AFC, though. @TheAthletic"

Is Colts interested as well to get Mayfield

Whether the Colts reciprocate that interest remains to be seen. The Irsay family has a close relationship with Browns general manager Andrew Berry, but it isn’t clear if that will be enough to make the Colts interested.

Mayfield during his rookie season

Mayfield hasn’t lived up to the billing of being a No. 1 overall pick since entering the league in 2018. He has never finished higher than 14th in DVOA among quarterbacks and that was back during his rookie season.

Mayfield, Colts, Brown, and the trade

Mayfield officially requested a trade from the Browns on Thursday, even when the Browns weren’t sure they would be able to acquire Watson. Cleveland wasn’t planning on honoring the request until they made the move for Watson. Mayfield already tweeted a thank you message to Browns fans, amid all the uncertainty earlier in the week.
