"My Mother Was a Single Mom":  Legendary NFL Quarterback Reveals Struggles on His Path to Greatness


Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback, Warren Moon had a legendary career in the NFL. However, he did not have it all at the beginning of his career. In a recent interview, he talked about the role his mother played, which helped him become one of the most decorated quarterbacks in the league. 

Moon played 17 seasons in the NFL

Moon started his journey in NFL with the Houston Oilers, currently known as Tennessee Titans. He almost played 10 seasons with the team. Later, he joined the Vikings, Seahawks, and Chiefs. He received 9 Pro Bowl selections and 5 All-Pro selections. 



Moon, the first African American QB to be inducted into the HOF

In 2006, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, making him the first African American quarterback to receive this honor. Notably, he was also inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, as he started his career in the CFL with Edmonton Eskimos. 

Moon reveals his early struggles

During a recent interview with Andrew Cordle, Moon revealed his early struggles in life because of his dad’s passing. “I did not come from much, you know, my mother was a single mom basically from the time I was seven years old because my dad passed away. So, she kind of provided for us herself. We did not have a whole lot but never felt like we were poor,” Moon said in the interview.
