In an interview recently, Alex Pereira said that he calls the stone sculpture ‘Tony’.

Further, he added that he doesn’t smile too much, so he ‘liked the correlation between both’.

Periera might have used the stone face as a joke. But his hands are no joke to opponents in the octagon. His name ‘Poatan’ means ‘stone hands’ in the local Tupi language of Brazil.
