Trained for the event by Mike Tyson, Ngannou explained how he stepped into MMA as a 27-year-old and homeless. 

How did Francis Ngannou's MMA journey start?

Francis revealed that he met a person, DT Carmel, in the boxing gym who was a martial artist, too. Carmel inspired him for martial arts, praising his "very good potential" in the sport.

Ngannou humorously admitted how confused he was when listening to MMA terms for the first time. "What is MMA?" Ngannou had said. DT Carmel had mentioned and later explained terms like Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, and UFC to him.
