Hours After Jamal Murray’s Bizarre Proposition for Jon Jones, Rapper Lil Wayne, Alexander Volkanovski Join In as NBA Star Reveals ESPY Moments to 1.2 Million People
ESPYs 2023 saw some top athletes grab awards for their brilliant performances. There were various categories in which athletes received awards. One of the most attention-grabbing categories was Best Comeback Athlete. Several athletes were nominated for the award, including UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones. However, it was NBA star Jamal Murray who won the award. Murray was forced to stay away from the game for one and a half years after he suffered an ACL injury in 2021. The Denver Nuggets star took some time off from the 2021–22 season to come back stronger.
Surprising many, ‘Blue Arrow’ returned to the sport with sheer determination to achieve something huge. He played a key role in taking the Denver Nuggets to the NBA Championship in 2023. His strong comeback mesmerized many. Murray’s performance also made him one of the best players in the association. It seems that Murray had a great time at the ESPYs. He enjoyed moments from the Award function and shared them with his 1.2 million Instagram followers.

Murray took to his Instagram handle to share some images from the ESPYs. There were photos of him holding the award for Best Comeback Athlete, Murray posing for the media on the red carpet, and many more. He also made sure that he got snapped with the top UFC fighters, including Jon Jones and Alexander Volkanovski. The NBA star shared photos with popular rappers Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz. The images proved that ‘Blue Arrow’ is a huge admirer of UFC fighters and some rappers, including Wayne.

When Murray received the Award for Best Comeback Athlete, he made sure that he acknowledged Jon Jones, who was also nominated in the same category. Murray mentioned other nominees who made strong comebacks in their respective sports. Murray then focused on Jon Jones and made a humorous comment about ‘Bones.’ Jones came back to the UFC after a hiatus of three long years to fight Ciryl Gane.

‘Bones’ achieved a first-round submission victory at UFC 285, proving that ring rust has not affected him a bit. The NBA star was present in the audience to witness Jones’ glorious victory. After praising Jones for his phenomenal achievement, ‘Blue Arrow’ said, “We can share this together. Just don’t choke me out.” Jones flashed a radiant smile at the NBA star’s comment. Moreover, Jones didn’t leave the ESPYs empty-handed. He received the Award for Best UFC Fighter.
