Opening Day took a scary turn for the Mets in the top of the ninth inning Thursday night when Pete Alonso was hit up near the face on a pitch by Nationals reliever Nate Thompson. Let's have a look at the whole story.

Alonso's helmet went flying as he hit the ground, but he popped up and was headed to first before being pulled back toward the dugout by manager Buck Showalter. The pitch glanced off his shoulder first and hit the C-flap on his helmet.
"All good, just a busted lip,"
"That’s it. I’ve got all my teeth, no concussion, I’m all good."
