Ohtani' the fourth pitcher to strike out Altuve three times in a single game

The right-hander is only the fourth pitcher to strike out Altuve three times in a single game, joining Matt Cain (2012), Zack Greinke (2017) and Max Scherzer (2021).

The Shohei Ohtani Rule

Ohtani wasn't done for the day after exiting the mound. The reigning American League MVP remained in the lineup as the designated hitter. Under a new rule nicknamed the "Shohei Ohtani rule," a team can list a player as both the pitcher and designated hitter for a game.
