In South Africa awaited the best right-hander on Earth - the pointbreak is a blank canvas. Two women - Santa Barbara pro surfer Lakey Peterson and Australian Molly Picklum fought hard to give themselves a shot at the top 5 in WSL CT. In the end, it was Lakey Peterson who won the Corona Open J-Bay event.

It is Lakey Peterson's first WSL Championship Tour victory since 2019 and fifth of her career. How did she win?

Peterson had been runner-up twice at J-Bay in the past but the third time was the charm for the 28-year old. Lakey sealed the victory with an 8.5 stunning ride in the final heat, leaving the surfing world awe-struck.

Impressed by Peterson's incredible rides, one user commented, "LP surfed her brains out all event. She deserves this win!". Another wrote: "powerful surf!"

Both the surfers battled hard, so, one wrote it is  reminiscent of "Slater and Seth Moniz". Another wrote: "Glad to see you both in the finals!". Despite losing, Molly also did just enough to make it top 5.
