Biles detailed the injury in an episode of "Simone vs. Herself" that was shot on May 24. She explained that she had aggravated an issue with a ligament in her foot during training in May and had struggled to properly rehab the injury through the intense few months before going to Tokyo.
Biles was forced to visit an emergency room in Doha during the competition after complaining of abdominal pain over the weekend. Initially believed to be appendicitis, scans found a large kidney stone which caused her considerable pain. Biles didn’t pass the stone and left the hospital — still competing despite the pain.
Biles appeared to injure herself while competing in the vault. She withdrew completely from competing in the Tokyo Olympics after suffering an apparent leg injury.
Twisties is a term gymnasts use to describe an almost inexplicable feeling where they are unable to perform a simple twisting skill that they must have practiced thousands of times in the gym. Biles once told that she was experiencing twisties.
When Biles wasn't suffering from physical but facing mental injury
The U.S. gymnast confirmed that she is not physically injured, but her status for the rest of the Olympics remains in doubt. Later it was confirmed that she wasn't in a peace mentally.
