During the post-race interview, Vingegaard expressed his confusion regarding the red jersey and claimed that the confusion led him to do the appropriate thing at that moment. However, towards the end of Stage 17, Vingegaard and Roglič reduced their speed and let Kuss win with a lead of 9 seconds.
