Cheerleader Rants on Snapchat After Landmark Supreme Court Ruling Shakes Free Speech Boundaries

Brandi Levy faced severe consequences after venting her frustration in a casual speech. After a disappointing moment, the 14-year-old cheerleader vented her frustration on social media. Unbeknownst to her, her brief remarks could severely impact a core US principle.

Levy was rejected

With much aspiration, Levi sought to become part of the varsity cheerleading team. Regrettably, she didn't make the squad, resulting in a sense of defeat. Consequently, her Snapchat rant caused her to face unexpected repercussions.

She posted a video on Snapchat

In the video, she and her friend raised middle fingers and stated, "F*** school f*** softball f*** cheer f*** everything." Soon after her virtual stand, she was suspended from the team for an entire year for the accusation of violating the school's codes of conduct.

The court delivered judgment in Levy's favor

To fight for her rights, Levy sought the assistance of the Supreme Court, where the court passed the judgment that her Snapchat post wasn't prosecutable, referring to the regulation of off-campus student speech freedom.
