Walter Fowler, Britain's oldest cycling champion, started his journey at 15 and hasn't stopped since. Now, approaching 90, he's still eyeing another title. He serves as an inspiration for the young generation with his dedication and competitive spirit.

Breaking records at 89

The retired marketing manager broke a record in 2019 for cycling 34.602 km in 60 minutes for the 85-89 age category. He recently claimed another victory at the 2023 World Masters Track Championships in Manchester for a 2km race.

Joy of cycling

For Wally, it is not about winning the races but the pure joy of cycling. He remembers the day he got his first cycle after the Second World War and how he peddled it millions of miles, enjoying every bit of it. Now, after 70 years, cycling has become his daily routine, which he seldom misses.

Aiming glory at 90

Wally is now aiming to break the world record one-hour endurance test presently held by Carl Grove. His perseverance and dedication are truly inspiring. Expressing the joys of cycling, he says, "Every amateur cyclist knows the value of the journey, even if they finish last. It’s a good life.
