American tennis legend Serena Williams will retire after the current season. In an interview with Vogue, the 40-year-old revealed her decision to move on from the game. Serena has been an icon of tennis for a long time. She has played for over two decades and has been an inspiration for many. In her long interview, Serena also explained the responsibility of finding the right balance between one’s profession and family.

Serena Williams believes that it is wrong to expect a woman to keep family as the priority over their profession. Further, she explained how it is wrong to ask someone to choose between the two.

















What did Williams say?

“Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family,” Williams wrote. “I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family,” she said

For the last time, Serena will feature in the Flushing Meadows. In the past, she has done wonders here. Six out of her 23 Grand Slam titles are in the US Open. Now that the American has decided to move on from tennis, it will be a near-perfect ending if she manages to lift the title one last time at home.
