Serena Williams and Natalie Portman’s Success With ACFC Inspires Another Female-Led Group to Invest in Women’s Soccer

Serena Williams and Hollywood actress Natalie Portman are doing their best to promote women’s soccer in the country. They own a team in the league which has generated a lot of buzz over this and last year. The ownership group of Angel City has names like Natalie Portman, Serena Williams, Julie Uhrman, Christina Aguilera, and many more. Time and again Natalie and Serena had been vocal about the state of women’s soccer in the country. However, more and more entities are lining up recently to have a team in the league.

After Serena Williams and Natalie Portman’s ACFC, another all-female ownership interested in NWSL.

According to Front Office Sports, the NWSL has narrowed down the list of expansion teams to just three. Boston is one of them and mayor Michelle Wu is voicing her support for Boston. Jennifer Epstein and Linda Henry are a couple of big names from an all-female investment group.

What did the Mayor of Boston say?

While talking about the team Mayor said, “Our city would obviously be an excellent home for a team of world-class athletes representing the best women’s soccer league in the world... Starting up a professional women’s soccer team is a challenging endeavor, but one that we are excited about.”

More teams are going to come up at NSWl.

NWSL will add two teams in 2024, and there are many takers. San Francisco and Tampa are in the race for the spot, along with Boston. However, the league may decide to revive Utah, leaving only one space for these three teams to fight for.
