Serena Williams’ Mad Love for Soccer Once Forced Elder Sister Venus to Follow Suit- ‘It’s Confusing…’


The 7-time singles Grand Slam champion once revealed how she was oblivious to the sport of soccer. Venus further stated that she only watches soccer because of her sister, Serena Williams. She made this surprising revelation during the FIFA World Cup 2010, which happened in South Africa.


Venus Williams once revealed that she didn’t know much about soccer.

Venus was once featured in an interview during the FIFA World Cup in 2010. During the interview, Venus Williams was asked about her rooting interests and impressions of soccer. Venus answered by stating that she watched the sport because her sister, Serena Williams followed the tournament.

Venus further added that she usually enjoyed watching the American soccer team’s performances during the tournament. The American tennis player went on to say that she didn’t get to watch all the games during the event. She also mentioned that watching the game becomes more enjoyable when you get behind your country.


Venus further went on to reveal that she was oblivious to any of the rules in soccer.

Venus added, “So when something happens, I’m confused. You know, I don’t know. So I’m learning slowly.”

Venus also talked about the American soccer team’s performances.

She was also asked about the American soccer team’s performances during the FIFA World Cup in 2010. She added, “I’m not sure what happened. It’s confusing, again, to me, because I don’t understand the rules yet. Hopefully there will be more soccer on in the U.S. so that way people like me can get a little more hip.”
