Multi-Millionaire WWE Legend Once Revealed His Parents Were Unhappy to See Him Become a Pro Wrestler

Everyone has different dreams and passions they want to follow in their life. The approval and support of a loved one is a must for an individual when running for their dreams. But, sometimes things became complicated when a generational gap comes to divide a person’s possibilities. 

Pro wrestling is a profession of uncertainty. Keeping aside the few superstars of the main roster, other wrestlers couldn’t even make it to the local tv promotion. And the chances are slim to none for a parent to approve of a profession that is full of uncertainty for their kid.

Hulk Hogan is perhaps the face most known face in pro wrestling. He is famous for his lavish lifestyle and his big spending habits. But there was a time in his life when, even after his success in pro wrestling, his parents didn’t understand his passion for pro wrestling.

Hogan had already been a professional wrestler for 5-6 years and was making a name for himself. But, his parents still were still unhappy with his career choice till they saw him winning the WWF title in 1984.

Hogan’s relationship with his parents

Hogan was fighting for the WWF title with the Iron Sheikh. Not only did he manage to defeat the Sheikh, but he was able to break out from his deadly submission lock, Camel Clutch. Till that time, no other superstar had ever been able to break his submission hold. When he won the title after pinning down Sheikh at Madison Square Garden, his parents in the crowd were highly impressed by their son.

After the match, Hogan’s parents told him backstage how proud they were of him. Hogan still considers that as the best moment of his life. Later Hogan became a big name in the entertainment industry. Hogan still reminiscences his life with his parents and misses sitting in the backyard with his dad.

“They had whole Hulkamania pictures and posters throughout their whole house. A lot of the fans came banging at the door who wanted to get a Hulk Hogan picture. And the name Bollea was on the phone book. And I thought how to get them to take the name out of the phone book after about 20 years because it started to get really crazy.” said Hogan.

Hogan’s parents were proud of their son and became his supporters till they passed away. Hulk Hogan remained persistent in following his passion and got the success he wanted.
