14 Years Back, $2,170,000 LA Mansion Deal Knocks Out Manny Pacquiao in Real Estate Ring In 2023

Millions of fans and followers saw a smiling Manny Pacquiao taking selfies and photos with other boxing legends in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The former 8-division champion went there to see the Tyson Fury–Francis Ngannou bout. Though he retired two years ago, Pacquiao, like his former rival Floyd Mayweather Jr., embarked on an exhibition match journey. Last year, he fought South Korean martial artist DK Yoo.

Reportedly, he has another exhibition bout scheduled for December, though an opponent remains to be confirmed. Thus, although things seem to be going well professionally, on the personal front, they do not appear encouraging. A real estate deal that he made 14 years ago finally ended up being a loss-making bargain for the former Philippines senator and 2022 presidential candidate.

A loss for an all-time winner

According to an article on realtor.com, Manny Pacquiao paid $2.7 million in 2009 for a five-bedroom home. With over 4,200 square feet, the place in Los Angeles has a Mediterranean design. Between the real estate ups and downs, by 2021, he had listed the property for sale at a price tag of $4.5 million. But unfortunately, as it eventually turned out, he had to sell it for $2 million. Alongside many other facilities, the home boasts marble and teak floors, a pool, a jacuzzi, and a dining area.

A few years ago, news of him selling the place came amid speculation that ‘The PacMan’ was going broke. However, he dismissed those reports as baseless. Reportedly, he and his wife were eyeing another property in Beverly Hills, California, and hence took such decisions.

Manny Pacquiao: Back to the Olympics

The news comes when Manny Pacquiao makes one last-ditch effort to claim the only achievement that has eluded his exemplary resume. It is an Olympic medal. In this instance, with his 1996 Olympic bronze medal, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has a clear lead over the former 8-division champion. The latter, who has been in public service for a long time, wants to bridge the gap.

The Philippine Olympic Committee has placed a request with the International Olympic Committee to consider Pacquiao’s candidacy based on universality law. However, it shouldn’t be forgotten that Pacquiao will turn 45 in another month’s time. Hence, there’s no guarantee that he would be considered for participation. Last but certainly not least, even if he succeeds in joining the Filipino national team, it shouldn’t be forgotten what happened to many professional boxers who came to fight amateur bouts in the Olympics but lost. Many fans feel that a defeat may not look good on such an outstanding career as Manny Pacquiao enjoyed.
