One take at a time
About me
“Heroism is endurance for one moment more.” I’ve been a lifelong Karateka with
immense respect and admiration for the sweet science. Now, for the first time,
I’ve got an opportunity to be as close as possible to the sport. For the past
year, my words have danced across the pages of boxing narratives, crafting tales
in and around the ring for EssentiallySports. Incidentally, three of my articles
have even been embraced by the entities involved such as Tony Jeffries and Mia
St. John. I have written over 900 articles, chronicling the recent developments
happening inside and outside of the squared circle. Having a keen eye on the
punches traded inside the squared circle, I have written opinion pieces on the
fighting styles of Floyd Mayweather Jr, David Benavidez, and Terence Crawford.
The genesis of my fascination with boxing traces back to the tales spun by my
father, recounting the epic clashes between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier,
besides regaling me and my brother about the greatest of all, Sugar Ray
Robinson. Outside of the greatest, my favorites remain the trinity comprising
Alexis Arguello for his elegance and power, Marvelous Marvin Hagler for his chin
and work ethic, and Manny Pacquiao for his resilience and dynamism. Aside from
writing, I love to spend my leisure time reading, an activity that comes in
handy when I don the hat of a storyteller for ES.
