Like Canelo Alvarez, Gervonta Davis is arguably one of the ‘faces of boxing.’ Hence, an easy target for real and make-believe match-ups. The Lightweight champion has already participated in one of the most significant bouts of the year, besides a title defense early in January. Per available accounts, a return seems to be in the offing by the early months of next year. His inactivity has probably given many a space to postulate hypothetical line-ups involving him and hazard a guess on the possible outcome.
However, as it appears, some conjectures seemingly test even the patience of those involved. Not to say the least about the wrath of those who keenly follow their icon. Fans came across a post chiming in a fantasy Jake Paul versus Gervonta Davis fight. So far, so good. However, what seems to have irked most of the die-hards is the upshot. According to the person who wrote,”…it would be very tough for @Gervonta to beat @jakepaul….” Obviously, an incensed ‘Tank’ would have none of it, “Shut the f*ck up!” and neither would the fans.

Buzz off!! Shouts Gervonta Davis
The following user stated it matter-of-factly. Gervonta Davis would still thrash Jake Paul despite the latter’s weight advantage of over 50 pounds.
Jake Paul out weighs him by 50 + pounds and Tank would probably still kick his ASS

Rejecting the point outright, the following fan highlighted how social media celebrities and their followers have no idea about boxing and its nuances. After a few weeks of training, most think they can take on a genuine boxer. Whereas, for the real ones, getting to the level they’re fighting at requires severe skill and strenuous effort.
This goes to show that social media stars and their fans know nothing about real boxing. It takes actual skill and hard work to get to the level they’re fighting at, these guys come in and train for a little while and think they’re capable of beating a true boxer. Not possible.

Citing the many flaws afflicting Jake Paul’s boxing, this fan believes that even at 190 pounds, he will lose to ‘Tank,’ who take full advantage of the YouTuber-turned-boxer’s weaknesses.
I seriously think Jake can show up at 190 and still get finished, the holes in his style are just going to be too apparent for someone like Tank

Probably done with the whole shenanigans, this user said that comparing YouTube boxers and real professional ones is entirely out of context.
YouTube boxers and professional boxers should not be in the same debate.

Echoing almost similar sentiments, the following user negates a Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis comparison. While the former is a faithful professional boxer, the latter is a pretender who prefers fighting retired mixed martial artists making their pro boxing debut.
No shit, you can’t compare jake to tank, both different guys in boxing, ones a real undefeated pro and ones playing boxing fighting MMA fighters who are retired and it’s their first boxing debut.

A fantasy match-up is an otherwise harmless exercise to see how two boxers or fighters who’ve never had a chance to square up would fare in the ring. One of the ageless fan favorites remains the Muhammad Ali versus Mike Tyson. A more recent one is Deontay Wilder versus Mike Tyson. However, these compositions appear reasonable and innocuous. Hence, most fans prefer drawing a line up to which the imagination can flow. Anything beyond that becomes a mockery.

Gervonta Davis exited prison on July 14. He had been incarcerated for 44 days after a court verdict on the 2020 road crash case. His name cropped against the likes of Frank Martin and a possible rematch with Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz. The latter is the second-only boxer to take ‘Tank’ the distance. On the other hand, per the latest updates, Jake Paul seems to have accepted an MMA fight offer with Nate Diaz. ‘The Problem Child’ had defeated the former UFC legend in a ten-round boxing match on August 5.
