A Hall of Fame induction is a dream that every MLB player nurtures. What first started 87 years ago to recognize a player’s contributions to the field continues to be regarded as the highest achievement for a slugger in their lifetime. The team to have the greatest number of Hall of Famer sluggers in their clubhouse is, not surprisingly, the New York Yankees.

For the team that leads the league with an overwhelming 27 World Series championships, it’s a given that most talent would be produced in the Bronx. Among the most memorable ones of the lot, six deserve a special mention.

The first name on the list is the evergreen Sultan of Swat, Babe Ruth. Playing in Pinstripes from 1920 to 1935, he once broke his own record for homers in the previous season by scoring 54 in 1920. Ruth was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1936 and has remained an elite member of the Yankees to date.

The one who follows next is more known by his moniker, the Yankee Clipper. Joe DiMaggio played for the Yankees in two runs, once from 1936 to 1942 and then again from 1946 to 1951. He set one of the hardest-hitting streak records to break back in 1941 after playing for 56 consecutive games and scoring at least one hit in each game. DiMaggio was inducted in the year 1955.

Next is Yogi Berra, who debuted with the Yankees in 1946. Famous for his pitching angles, which covered the toughest areas of the strike zone, he moved in sync with the bat in front. His Hall of Fame induction took place in 1972 as the only player to hold 10 World Series rings to his name.

1951 saw the emergence of another iconic Yankee, Mickey Mantle. The fan-favorite Commerce Comet remains the sole owner of the record for having the highest OPS in the history of the World Series. He got his Cooperstown recognition in 1974.

Moving on to the players of the 21 century, we have Mariano Rivera, who used to play for them until a decade ago. The famous relief pitcher was elected for the honor back in 2019 as the only name with 100% of the ballotting in his favor.

The last one on the list has a special place in the hearts of the recent era. Derek Jeter is considered one of the highest achievers among the offensive shortstops in MLB. Often termed the most stubborn and dangerous player in the sport, Jeter was honored with the title in 2020 with the second-highest voting percentage at 99.7%.
