Michael Schumacher initially started his career with the Jordan F1 team of Eddie Jordan in the 90s. However, the $600 million worth mogul recently claimed that he robbed some teams during his time as the big F1 mogul. He took a direct dig at Stefano Domenicali, who is currently the CEO of the Formula One Group and was just starting his career at Ferrari in the 90s.
In 1991, Schumacher made his debut at Spa. He got his opportunity by replacing a Jordan F1 driver, who was arrested. He grabbed that opportunity with both hands, as he finished the race in 7th place. Notably, he also achieved Jordan F1’s highest qualifying position during that season with just a single race. Despite getting a full-time offer from Jordan, he decided to sign with Benetton and the rest is history.
In a recent episode of the podcast ‘Formula for Success’, Jordan said, “Right exactly here, in 1990, a young guy came here, and we had to do a test on Wednesday for him to go to Spa, and that was the first race. He brought them success, gave himself seven world titles.”
In the podcast, Jordan talks about beating many teams in terms of signing battles. He said, “What he doesn’t realize, and doesn’t remember guys, is that I robbed him on many occasions with [Jean] Alesi, with Stephen Johansson, with Barrichello, with Irvine, with Fisichella, and with Michael Schumacher.”
