Lewis Hamilton and his father Anthony Hamilton have a long history. On many occasions, Lewis talked briefly about the role his father played in making him a successful F1 driver. Now, Hamilton is arguably the greatest F1 driver of all time. They also had to go through some tough times together. Despite all that, Hamilton recently gifted his father a massive gift.
Previously, Hamilton said that his father worked 4 jobs to get him into F1. He also gave up his whole life’s savings i.e. $20,000 and re-mortgaged their house during Hamilton’s first season in F1. Till 2010, Anthony worked as Hamilton’s manager.
While being Hamilton’s manager, Anthony lost $20 million on an investment, which was Hamilton’s earnings in F1. After this incident, Hamilton had to ask his father to step down from his managerial role. Later, his father said, “I was shocked and devastated. When he said he no longer wanted me as manager it came completely out of the blue because we hadn’t fallen out… I can honestly say we have both become better people for it. It had to happen at some stage.”
As per Vincenzo Landino, Hamilton bought two Mercedes AMG 1 cars; one for him and one for his father. Notably, the car costs around $2,750,000. This shows that Hamilton still shares a great bond with his father despite the previous fallout.
