The plausible reason behind MJ's Tongue out

Everybody knows that when MJ ran towards the rim with his tongue out, it was over for his opponents. Him rolling his tongue out became a signature MJ move before a big basket. But did you know that his father, whom he was very close to, would also stick his tongue out while working around the house? In fact, so did his grandad. It's probably where he picked up the habit from.

Helped the recovery effort of 9/11

For his first year out of retirement with the Washington Wizards, Michael Jordan was paid $1 million. However, this entire amount MJ gave away. The 9/11 tragedy had struck just a while before the NBA season had started, so he decided to help the recovery effort because he believed he needed to give back to those who really needed it.

The curious case of the jersey thief

In 1990, on Valentine's Day, a thief, still unknown, stole MJ's jersey right out of the locker room an hour before the game began. With nowhere else to go, MJ had to try on a fan's replica nut that did not fit him. Unfortunately, he had to make do with a jersey kept for emergencies with only '12' written on it.

Chicago Bulls did not send a car for MJ

Landing for the first time at Chicago O'Hare airport in 1984, the Chicago Bulls did not send anyone to pick MJ up. But a limo driver, George Kohler, felt sorry for him and offered help. The two young men instantly hit it off and Kohler only charged MJ $25, also offering him a tour in the city and a place for a drink. A couple of weeks later, Jordan even invited George out to hang out and they developed a great friendship.

Miami Heat retired the No. 23

The first jersey the Miami Heat ever retired was the No. 23. The ceremony took place in 2003, on April 11, prior to a Washington Wizards and Heat matchup. "No one will ever wear number 23 for Miami Heat. You're the best," said Pat Riley to Michael Jordan.
