Ranking the New York Yankees' Biggest Rivals of All-Time

Being one of the oldest and most renowned teams comes with a price. The New York Yankees have had their bitter-sweet moments with many teams over the years. Here’s a list of 5 teams where bad blood with the Yankees still exists.

#5 Baltimore Orioles

The Yanks and O’s have played together for more than 100 years in the American League and the AL East. Things got rocky in 1960 when they battled for the pennants.

#4 Los Angeles Dodgers

Up until 1958, the Dodgers played in Brooklyn making intra-city rivals with the Yankees. The Dodgers and Yankees played against each other 11 times in the World Series from 1941 to 1981, each match more intense than the next.

#3 Houston Astros

Comparatively a newer one, the seeds of this rivalry were sown in 2017 and it has been downhill ever since then after the sign-stealing scandal broke out.

#2 New York Mets

Nobody can forget the 2000 World Series when tensions rose between Yankees pitcher Roger Clemens and Mets catcher Mike Piazza.

#1 Boston Red Sox

No rivalry has proved to be more consistent than this one. Babe Ruth was traded to the Yankees for $100,000 from the Red Sox giving birth to ‘The Curse of the Bambino’. After trading Ruth, the Red Sox went 86 years without winning a championship.
