Denny Hamlin certainly has what it takes to be on the track, given the years of experience he has racing with the best. Following his induction into the greatest 75 drivers of NASCAR, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver revealed a candid conversation he had with his mother during his struggling years.
“Its uh, its cool that I, you know my mom said to me, she says would you ever imagined, you know when you are racing at Southside or Langley that you know, you life would’ve taken a turn like this, right?”
“You were on the cusp of not racing anymore, we’re to our final race and you got a lucky break and got seen at the right time and your career just took off down this path that you know look at where you are now compared to where you started.” As Denny Hamlin coins the whole experience, it certainly was “humbling.”
Denny was contacted by Jim France, the Chief executive Officer of NASCAR, while he was in his car, thinking, “Oh sh*t, here we go again, what are they mad about now?” While France called him to notify him about his entry, the #11 driver is deeply honored to be part of the prestigious event.
