Chase’s current standing

Having missed six races so far this season, Chase currently stands at the 33rd position on the points table. Currently, he has 49 points to his name and is 134 points behind the last playoff contender.

A tempting incentive

When recently Elliott attended the Pat McAfee show, he spoke about his chances at Martinsville. It was then that he said, “Points don’t matter now. I’m so far out, so the win is the only option for us.” To this, McAfee said, “You get first this weekend, we’ll give $100,000 to a charity of your choice.”

Chase on the challenges ahead of his return

“I think it’s going to be tough. What challenges are going to be presented this weekend, I don’t 100% until I get there and kind of get going through it. But anytime you miss a period and your competitors are sharpening their skills and you’re not—I do think you’ve missed out, for sure.”
