Sunday’s race at Bristol Motor Speedway proved to be a rollercoaster ride for pole-sitter Kyle Larson, whose early advantage evaporated as collisions marred his performance. A key incident with Ryan Preece saw both drivers clashing on and off the track, igniting tensions and ultimately impacting their race results. However, after the race, both drivers spoke to the media explaining their side of the story.
“I assume it was an hour and a half since that [the collision on lap 79] happened. It wasn’t my fault why he ended up spun out in the back. So I thought that he would chill out. Obviously, he didn’t […] It is what it is. I figured we could just be grownups and get the f**k over it, but I guess not.”
During the race, right after he made contact with Larson, Ryan Preece was heard saying “game over” on the radio. He explained to the reporters, “I think when I meant game over, I meant just not gonna keep lifting and giving that respect of, ‘Hey, I’ll give you this room.’ It comes down to that.”
