An American submission grappler Ryan recently shared his opinion on the BJJ and combat Sambo fighters and why Sambo always dominates BJJ.
BJJ star Gordon Ryan recently expressed his views on why Combat Sambo fighters can be the best-suited fighters for the UFC format. He also answered questions where he explained why Sambo-trained fighters are dominant over BJJ practitioners.
Sambo is a type of Russian martial art that has its origin in the Soviet. This combat sport is practiced internationally and is a recognized style of amateur wrestling included in the World Wrestling Championships.
One of Ryan's fans asked him how and why Sambo fighters dominate BJJ fighters to which Gordon Ryan replied with his reasons behind Sambo’s UFC success. He said, “Sambo guys” are more well-equipped to wrestle under an MMA rule set. Meaning they dominate the pace and direction of the fight, and end on top. And make their opponents carry body weight, forming a discrepancy in the work rate that leads to fatigue over time. plus the guys they’re fighting aren’t, in my opinion, world-level jiu-jitsu that focus on MMA, not specialists.”
On being asked for his opinion on BJJ fighters that could defeat Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam in MMA, Ryan gave no reply.
