How did Sano got inspired for surfing?

Sano got inspired by his local bank employee who revealed his tan secret to Sano which was surfing after which Sano found a surfing teacher, Kazuto Shimizu.

Sano's response on surfing at the age of 89!

"I don't consider myself an old man. I always feel that I can still move forward. I can still do it. I can still enjoy it," Sano said standing alongside the board in his wetsuit.
