An Instagram page posted a video of Tom Curren surfing on the first day at JBay in 1993 on a board he had never ridden and still brings out the best skills in his moves.

Kelly Slater was stunned by the surfing skills of his inspiration for surfing and wrote, “The ride by which all others at J-Bay should be judged/scored."

Further adding to his message for his inspiration, Slater wrote, "Still a perfectly executed ride today, nearly 30 years later, and I would argue better than any ride I’ve ever witnessed during any event there.”
