Rare Image of Surfing God Riding ‘The Cradle of Storms’ That Took 2 Years of Planning

The magnificent pictures of surfers piercing through the waves with their surfboards are loved by all. However, surfing photographers have to face different adversities to capture those splendid moments. In a similar incident, self-taught photographer Chris Burkard took it to a different level to capture cold water surfer Josh Mulcoy at the Aleutian islands(The Cradle of Storms) in Alaska. Here are the experiences shared by Chris from his 2022 interview with 'The Guardian' regarding the magnificent image.

The pain behind the photographic beauty!

Surf photographer Chris Burkard planned for two years with cold water surfer Josh Mulcoy to visit the Aleutian islands "The Cradle of Storms " connecting Alaska to Russia in 2013 to capture Josh riding the cold waves.


The story behind Alaskan surfing image!

Chris revealed to Guardian that he went to Unmark Island to capture Josh Mulcoy surfing and stayed there 14 days with Josh, waiting for the perfect opportunity to click the picture.

The day of perfect opportunity!

The day Chris spotted a "single clear morning", he rushed with Josh to capture his images while riding the swell. The one that Chris was most proud of was the one he took from the land.

“He’s on a right-hander, on a beautiful point break we found. The volcano in the background is Mount Vsevidof, the only volcano on this island," Chris said about the Josh Mulcoy picture that he took on Unmark Island.
