Watch: Pro-Surfer John John John Florence Shred Bombs Hale’iwa in a Thrilling Nine-Minute Video

In the realm of surfing, John John Florence hardly needs an introduction. The 31-year-old is a living legend because of his early success in professional sports. Adding to it, recently, the 2x WSL champion posted a rip-roaring video of himself slicing through waves of Haleʻiwa.

Tribute to Haleʻiwa Surfing

John John Florence's latest release is an ode to The North Shore's Ali'i Beach Park, aka Hale'iwa (house of the 'iwa bird), a spot that he and his friends have grown up surfing.

The Spirit of Hale'iwa

In Haleʻiwa, toddlers start surfing, participate in the yearly kids Menehune Contest, and gradually paddle farther out as they grow. Plus, unlike Pipeline, it’s not a wave they charge once they’ve proven themselves as total badasses.

Florence's Thrilling Surfing Odyssey

Still conquering the wave as an adult, Florence captioned the post, "Hale'iwa has always been one of my favorite waves. It's pretty fun to think back on surfing heats at the Menehune Contest with the same friends I surf with today," showcasing his love for the wave in the film.
