Steve Austin

Steve Austin might be one of the biggest wrestling stars of all time, and someone that Vince McMahon gets along well with, that doesn't mean he never defied the WWE Chairman. When Vince wanted him to compete against Brock Lesnar in the 2002 King of the Ring tournament, the Texas Rattlesnake opted to reject him.

CM Punk

Heading 2

CM Punk also took the same approach as Steve Austin in opting to simply not turn up to work due to his unhappiness. After the 2014 Royal Rumble where Punk was taken out by Kane, he decided to call time on his career. Despite the fact he was under contract with the company, Punk decided to defy Vince McMahon and the entire company.

Batista

The new PG rating meant no more blood in WWE. Batista defied Vince McMahon's new rules and decision for a more family-friendly product, and decided to blade during the match. He was fined $100K for the incident, proving the consequences were very real even for major stars when defying McMahon.

Bret Hart

When Bret Hart decided to defy Vince McMahon in the middle of the ring, it was an acceptable situation. That's because it took place at the infamous Montreal Screwjob, where the Hitman was evidently frustrated. He spat in the face of Vince, which is something that nobody would ever normally do unless it was scripted.

Sgt. Slaughter

Heading 2

Sgt Slaughter is a legend of the wrestling business, and someone that Vince McMahon did end up trusting highly. However, earlier on in his career, the two fell out massively. This is because Slaughter got offered the chance to be involved with the G.I. Joe franchise, which is something that Vince couldn't agree to at the time.

Brock Lesnar

Heading 2

Brock Lesnar was so angry with how things went down at WrestleMania 34 that he threw the Universal Championship at WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. At WrestleMania 34 in April 2018, many fans expected Roman Reigns to finally beat Brock Lesnar and win the Universal Championship
