“In a Drunken Stupor”: Triple H Reveals How His Mother-in-law, Linda McMahon, Saved His Wedding Day from Getting Ruined

Paul Levesque aka ‘Triple H’ has been married to the current co-CEO of WWE, Stephanie McMahon, for almost 20 years now. The couple who got married in 2003, have three daughters together. Recently, Triple H shared a funny anecdote about their wedding day involving his mother-in-law Linda McMahon.

Linda McMahon had been involved with the WWE for a number of years. She appeared frequently as an on-screen character, as well as holding various positions within the company.

The wife of ex-WWE Chairman Vince McMahon also served as President and CEO of the company until 2009.

Linda McMahon saved Triple H’s wedding from being ruined

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani for BTSport, Triple H shared the funny story from his wedding day. He revealed how the legendary Michael Hayes thought he ruined his wedding to Stephanie McMahon because he started singing while drunk.

‘The Game’ shared, “There’s a moment for me, when Steph and I got married, and Michael Hayes sang at my wedding. First song was ‘Jailhouse Rock’, was amazing, he wanted to go into some second song in a drunken stupor and Linda went by and stole the microphone out of his hand”.

Triple H also said that afterward, Hayes called him to apologize.

The Cerebral Assassin said, When I returned from my honeymoon, he had left a message on my answering machine saying, ‘Trip, I’m sorry, I ruined your wedding and apparently I screwed up and ruined your wedding’.

He continued, “I called him immediately and was like, ‘Michael, if you would have called teenage me, sitting on the couch, eating a bowl of cereal, watching the Von Erichs beat up the Freebirds, I mean the Freebirds beat up the Von Erichs, that guy, the big blonde haired guy, was going to sing at your wedding, I would have been out of my mind. I said it was the highlight. No issues.” 

This is surely one of those tales that will now always come up when the Triple H and Stephanie McMahon wedding is discussed.

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon have appeared as authority figures on WWE TV

Triple and Stephanie began dating each other during their on-screen storyline romance. After they got married, the relationship was kept away from TV for a long time.

But in the mid-2010s the couple began appearing on WWE programming as part of ‘The Authority’ a heel stable.

Moreover, the power couple has also wrestled a tag team match against Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 34.

They are now leading WWE into a new era post-Vince McMahon’s retirement. Stephanie McMahon serves as the co-CEO along with Nick Khan, while Triple H is the current Head of Creative.
