Final Fantasy is one of the longest-running JRPG series in gaming. The games started from NES and have survived the test of time. They have evolved from pixelated turn-based RPGs to big-budget spectacles, unlike anything their fans have seen before. But it looks like the release of Baldur's Gate 3 has inspired fans to ask Square Enix to bring that classic gameplay loop back!
Over the years these games have changed from being turn-based to more action-heavy. And the recent installment has completely left its old style behind.
Final Fantasy XVI has been a monumental success for the franchise but in terms of gameplay, it took a sharp turn. Its mostly an action game, more like a Devil May Cry game, with very few RPG elements.
But the success of newly released role-playing game Baldur's Gate 3 has encouraged fans to push Square Enix to give them more traditional Final Fantasy titles, not something inspired by God of War.
