Nintendo Switch is an excellent console; there has never been a doubt about it. This hybrid device has had so many excellent titles in its library over the years that it has become increasingly hard to keep track. While many say it’s basically on the last legs of its life cycle, this console continues to add new and unique titles to its name.

But Nintendo gave everyone a literal shock with the announcement of Wonder. It’s a game that takes players on a ride through a world that they can alter according to their requirements. The powerups are another level of crazy, and enemies do not play by the rules set by the classics. For anyone wondering, this upcoming game is nothing like those classic Super Mario titles. In fact, this game might even be a literal deconstruction of that formula.

Now the question arises: would it reignite that fire for retro gaming in Nintendo fans? No, it’s not a game that is meant to do any such thing; in fact, it’s a game that seeks to push or even break the boundaries set by those titles.

If there’s a game that might make fans feel nostalgic though, it’s Super Mario RPG Remake. That is the game people would play to remember the good old days. Maybe they would even buy one of those classic collections on the Switch store.

Nostalgia is fueled by things that are from the past or that hold remnants of the past. A game as brash as Super Mario Bros. Wonder is not made to make fans nostalgic. It is made to attract new fans and blow away longtime fans by showing them something wildly different.
