In a recent interview, Volpe was asked about his favorite shortstops over the years. He said, “Um, Jeter is definitely number 1. I love Lindor, and um, third one I like is Brandon Crawford.”

During his call with Jeter, Volpe talked about receiving some great advice from his idol. As per New York Post’s Greg Joyce, Volpe said, “It was pretty awesome. Just the fact that they went out of their way to set it up and did it. Obviously talking to him was pretty amazing”. The rookie also shared Jeter’s advice for him, “Just play and have fun. Enjoy it and embrace it. [I’m] definitely trying to do that.”
