This Trade Package Can Possibly Send Aaron Rodgers To New York Jets

The Aaron Rodgers trade deal between the Jets and the Packers is yet to finalize. Earlier, Rodgers expressed his desire to play for the Jets; however, the Jets owner is still unwilling to give up a certain draft pick for the QB. There are a few ways for both franchises to get what they want without losing significant draft picks.

The Jets’ dilemma

The New York Jets owner, Woody Johnson, is unwilling to give up the 2024 guaranteed first-round draft pick, as per NFL insider Charles Robinson. When Rodgers said on the Pat McAfee show that he was 90% retired before going into his ‘Darkness Retreat’, this made the Jets in a tricky situation, as they don’t know if Rodgers is willing to play post-2023 season.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport’s comments

Earlier, Rapoport also believes that the 90% retired thing worked against Rodgers in this case, as the Jets won’t give up their 2024 first-round pick. Robinson earlier reported that they had a deal in place with the Packers, before the 90% retired statement came out.

What’s the ideal deal package for both the teams

As the Jets don’t want to lose their 2024 first-rounder, they can give the Packers a conditional 2024 second-round pick, only if Rodgers returns for a second season. They can throw a 2024 third-round pick in the deal as well. In return, the Jets will get Rodgers along with a conditional 2025-round pick if Rodgers decides to retire after the 2023 season.
