22-Year-Old Texas Man’s Swimming Adventure Turns Into Horrors As He Meets With a Tragic Fate

A 22-year-old Texas man tragically drowned while swimming at a lake in northeastern Oklahoma on Tuesday.

The Incident

According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, the man was swimming around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday at the beach area at Taylors Ferry on Lake Fort Gibson in Wagoner County. He swam beyond the swim buoys, started struggling, went under the water and did not resurface.

The Recovery

Troopers located the body, and the Cherokee Nation Marshal dive team recovered him at 7:55 p.m. in about 5.5 feet of water.

The Victim

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the man as Giovanni Vargas of Port Arthur, Texas. This tragic incident serves as a reminder to always be cautious and aware of our surroundings while swimming in open waters.
