Days After MLB’s Ban on ‘Pride’ Jerseys, NHL Also Imposes Restrictions for Wearing the Themed Jerseys During Warmups

After MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred decided to stop putting 'Pride' logos on the jerseys of the players, NHL has also joined the club to ban the themed jerseys during the warm-ups. However, it's not like the players can't wear themed jerseys ever for supporting causes, it just comes under certain conditions. Check out the following story to know more about it.

MLB's decision to ban 'pride' jerseys!

During a conference on June 15, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred announced, "In terms of actual uniforms, hats, bases we don’t think putting (Pride) logos on them is a good idea just because of the desire to protect players"

Another reason that Rob cited was, "Not putting them in a position of doing something that may make them uncomfortable because of their personal views.”

What's NHL's decision on the themed jerseys?

Recently after league's Board of Governors meeting, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said in an interview, "We’re not going to change jerseys for warmup because that’s just become more of a distraction from really the essence of what the purpose of these nights are.”

Will NHL players not wear themed jerseys to support causes?

According to Bettman, NHL players would still be able to wear the Pride jerseys when they are not on the ice. However, apart from that they are not allowed to don Pride jerseys.
