Despite Potential Career-Ending Disasters, Equestrian-Horse Duo Set to Make a Grand Comeback

Usually when the horse gets fatally injured, it is euthanized by the owner. However, the bond between the rider and the equine is much more than just riding and facing mere injuries. The indestructible bonding brought out the best out of the jockey Katie Brickman and the 11-year-old equine Flash who were once on the verge of giving up all!

2017, The year of doom for Brickman and Flash

Equestrian Katie Brickman got flipped over a glass bottle in 2017 that took an 8-hour-long surgery to revive the damaged arteries and tendons of her left hand.

After her surgery, when Katie went to check on Flash, she saw, "him pretty much on three legs," and found out after diagnosis that Flash had ruptured the middle patella ligament in his left stifle joint.

The bond that that kept the rider-equine together!

Considering Flash's condition in 2017, when the vet asked Katie to euthanize him, she said, "But I absolutely adore that horse – you love them all but he’s so special – that I wanted to try."

The road to recovery!

Brickman arranged the PRP cell therapy for Flash while undergoing another surgery and physiotherapy for her surgery and would spend long hours with Flash in the stable.

The ultimate return of Katie-Flash duo!

The Katie-Flash duo managed to win three BE80(T) events apart from the BE90 event. Moreover, the duo also got selected for the elite Badminton Horse Trials Grassroots Championship.
