On 27 August 2023, the 4x Olympic gold medalist broke a 90-year-old record she previously shared with Alfred Jochim by winning eighth title at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships. Immediately after, she flew back to Houston to promote a women's apparel brand, despite her commitments to Nike. Simone Biles x Athleta

Earlier in 2021, Simone Biles signed the agreement to represent the women's clothing brand Athleta, leaving Nike - her longtime sponsor. However, in 2023, Nike returned to the gymnastics world as the Official Apparel and Footwear Partner of USA Gymnastics and the USA Gymnastics National Team.

Now, despite her commitments to Nike, Simone Biles returned to Houston, fresh off winning 8th U.S. Championship, to promote the newest line of Athleta activewear. Each piece of this collection comes with a "Because I Can" slogan printed on it, which is a quote she once used when asked about pushing boundaries.
