Equestrian Trainer’s Bold Move Pays Off With Beloved Horse’s High Stakes Triumph

In equestrian sports, trainers have a special place as they are the ones who understand and train the horses. This year, Archo Nacho emerged as the winner of the 2023 Poseidon Stakes because of the trainer's fearless moves and trust in the horse.

Destiny brought Archo Nacho, trained by famed Matt Laurie, to the Poseidon stakes at the Flemington racecourse. Although the Mornington-based trainer and his partner Kelly were about to sell the gelding, at the last moment, they decided not to.

'More in store' for Archo Nacho

According to Matt Laurie, "We just thought there was more in store for this horse, and clearly there is." He added that trust and timely decision paid off in this race.

Archo Nacho, ridden by Ben Melham, put up a fierce display at the race, especially in the final stages, and won AUD 10,000 for his family. It's incredible what trust can do, right?
