Ex-NCAA Sprinting Champion Suffers a Brutal Fate After Possession of Banned Substances

Divine Oduduru's sprinting career received a massive jolt after receiving a ban. The Nigerian sprinter and former NCAA champion got the ruling after being found guilty of violating two anti-doping rules. His case came to light during the investigation of therapist Eric Lira and was also linked to teammate Blessing Okagbare's case.

Divine Oduduru suspension

Divine Oduduru was banned from sprinting for six years by the Athletics Integrity Unit. He was found guilty of possessing or attempting to use multiple prohibited substances before the 2020 Olympics. The 27-year-old's ban will continue till February 2029. He was provisionally suspended in February this year for investigation.

Eric Lira case

The US authorities investigated naturopathic therapist Eric Lira for a doping case. During the Tokyo Olympics, Lira was found guilty of supplying athletes with performance-enhancing drugs. Lira is serving a ten-year imprisonment sentence for the case.
