"Fall was unrelated": Tragic Accident Claims 15-Year-Old Rising Equestrian Star's Life in the Blink of an Eye

The 15-year-old equestrian Hannah Serfass of Webster, Florida, was competing in the Fox Lea Farm Spring Concours I in Venice. During the competition, when she was half way through the jumper event, she tried the sixth jump. That's when the horse knocked her off and fell on her head. 

Efforts to save Hannah Serfass's life

Fox Lea Farm personnel rushed to Serfass' aid until deputies arrived. She was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. The horse, Quaxx 2, however, was not injured. 

Up-and-coming young rider 

Serfass is a very talented up-and-coming young rider who was known for her passion for horses, her natural ability, and her work ethic.

Better Equestrian practices?

Responding to the accident, the U.S equestrian federation said the fall was "unrelated to a jumping effort." But given the increasing number of equestrian accidents, don't you think it is time increase safety in sport?.
