"He was such a little legend": 2x Olympic leaves the equestrian community mourning due to a saddening fate

The equestrian world mourns the loss of Riddle Master, a celebrated equine athlete who twice graced the Olympics alongside Canada's Rebecca Howard. His remarkable journey and deep bond with his rider are remembered with profound sadness.

A Courageous Battle:

Recently, Riddle Master bravely battled a crippling stomach infection, but sadly, he did not overcome it. His rider, Rebecca Howard, in Wiltshire, deeply lamented this loss, describing it as "incredibly sad." She fondly recalled him as a legendary partner, the ultimate eventing athlete, and a horse who meant the world to her.

A Stellar Journey:

Bred by Caroline Bazley, Riddle Master's journey began at the 2010 World Equestrian Games, where he secured a 23rd-place finish. Notable feats included a 10th-place at the 2011 Kentucky Three-Day Event and a win at Jersey Fresh in May 2012. Despite one victory at this level, he impressed with consistent top-ten finishes in other three-star events.

Olympics and Beyond:

Rebecca and Riddle Master overcame challenges, including a 2012 Olympic elimination. They achieved success, with highlights like a 12th at Badminton, 11th at Burghley in 2013, and a commendable 10th at Luhmulen in 2015. Riddle Master shone in five four-stars, including a 22nd at Pau in 2015. Their crowning moment was the 2016 Rio Olympics, finishing 10th, marking their lasting equestrian legacy. Rebecca was the top female rider.
