Owing to a Friend’s Clever Move, Famed Rider and Claimed Horse-Whisperer Set To Make a Comeback

Charlie Richards, 33, a Bahrain-born British expat and horse-whisperer, is all set to resume competing in showjumping 2023-24 season in November. She's re-entering the sport post a year-long break, after being convinced by Dawood Salman Ahmed, the owner of David Equestrian Services. How did that happen?

Beginning of Charlie Richards' love for horses

Inheriting her love for horses from parents, Charlie started riding at 3, and took part in show jumping competitions until she came across Marvin Earl ‘Monty’ Roberts.

The story behind Horse whispering

Earl ‘Monty’ Roberts - the ‘real horse-whisperer’, inspired passion about horsemanship in Richards. So, she went on to pursue a 3-year course on horsemanship, taking a break from the sport.

Charlie Richards' decision to re-enter competitive arena

"“He [Dawood Salman Ahmed] said, ‘Come on, Charlie, let’s go!’ and when we got to the venue, I took one look and asked ‘Are we showjumping, Dawood?’ And he just grinned in reply," said Charlie and that's how she made a comeback
