The incident with Gretzky happened when he went on with Oilers to play an exhibition game in Quebec.

Gretzky's coach's description of the incident

In an interview with CBC in 1974, Gretzky's coach said, "I looked down at the bench, and all of a sudden, Wayne doesn't have any sticks."
